The storage, processing and analysis of these data allow us to better know our customers, improve our products and streamline distribution, as well as predict diseases among many more user cases.
Apache Hadoop is a free software project involving Twitter, LinkedIn, Uber, Facebook, Intel and Cloudera, among other organizations. This project integrates dozens of tools and solutions that allow storing, processing and analysing large volumes of data through the use of non-specialized servers.
In this practical workshop we will explore the problems generated by working with large volumes of data and how the use of Big Data solutions solves them. For this, we will implement a Cloudera CDH virtualized Cluster, one of the most used Apache Hadoop distributions in the business world.
We will use 5 virtual servers to assemble a Big Data cluster in order to see how the capacities of these servers are added and tasks can be launched on that cluster as if it were a single machine.

Internet of Things is the present and the future of technology. With the aim of being a reference multinational in everything related to IoT and be able to be present in all connectable devices, Microsoft has developed Windows 10 IoT Core.
Windows 10 IoT Core is a reduced version of Windows 10 optimized for small Mini-PCs (Raspberry Pi 2 and 3, Dragonboard 410c and MinnowBoard Turbot / MAX), for products that are coming under the umbrella of the Internet of Things and, in general, for the embedded sector. In addition, Windows 10 IoT Core uses the API Universal Windows Platform (UWP) , making the creation and development of large IoT-based solutions as easy as possible and allowing us to bring out that maker we carry inside.
Throughout this workshop we will follow all the necessary process to create a prototype on Windows 10 IoT Core, starting with the installation and configuration of W10 IoT Core on a Raspberry Pi 3 board, followed by the download of the appropriate version of Visual Studio to create and develop our first application to finally upload it to Microsoft Azure.

Jobs in cybersecurity operations play an important role in the protection of information systems. They are among the fastest growing professions in the field of IT, as organizations are in need of establishing security operations centres (SOCs) and equip them with trained teams to monitor and respond to security incidents.
This practical workshop has been designed with the aim of showing how cyber threats are managed by these two profiles in a cybersecurity operations centre.
A replica scenario of a SOC will be worked on, using the Security Onion distribution. It will be illustrated, with an example of performance, how the intrusion detection systems (Snort / Suricata), event monitoring (Sguil / Squert), data capture (Wireshark and NetworkMiner) and analysis (Bro) are integrated to classify and give response to security alerts.

In this practical session, we present one of the novelties of RHEL 7 and Centos 7, the new configuration interface of iptables: firewallD. The firewallD service allows to manage in a less complex way the iptables rules, both for IPv4 and IPv6, protecting in a more robust way our Linux environments.
Netfilter management using firewallD takes a new dimension, based on the definition of zones and services. Services can have a single port like HTTP, or multiple ports like DNS. In addition, it allows adding kernel modules for the correct filtering, such as the FTP service and the nf_conntrack_ftp module.
In the workshop we will discuss the configuration of firewallD, both from its graphical interface, firewall-config, and from the command line, firewall-cmd. For this, we will use a virtualized environment based on KVM with several Red Hat instances, creating a small network that allows us to see in detail how each of the rules affects the traffic between them.

The objective of this practical workshop is to showcase the mSchools Scratch Challenge educational initiative. A modular didactic proposal focused on the development of computational thinking in the classroom through the learning of the free programming language Scratch. It allows to develop the teaching creating interactive stories, simulations, games and animations, and to share the creations online.
The initiative, aimed at students in the Middle and Higher Secondary Education (3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th) and First Cycle of ESO (1st and 2nd), aims to promote digital skills and develop creative thinking and collaborative work among the youngest.
The proposal is structured in six modules, which evolve sequentially in complexity, consisting of 12 sessions of one hour each. Each module poses a challenge that students must solve progressively and working in groups.
Through this workshop we want to share with teachers the materials and resources necessary to implement this programming environment in the classroom following the modules developed.

The objective of this workshop is to show how to design and implement the complete stack of an application fully integrated in Docker containers, orchestrated by Kubernetes/Openshift with an IC/CD pipeline to manage deployments using Jenkins.

IoT is based on objects that can communicate with each other through the network. A temperature sensor that communicates with the heating thermostat through WiFi, light bulbs connected to motion sensors and even ourselves can be one of these objects connected to the network.
In IoT environments, cybersecurity must be a fundamental aspect. In many cases we are putting our own security in the hands of the IoT applications: automatic door openers, surveillance cameras, alarms... We must pay special attention not to expose our objects to cyber threats when we use IoT systems.
In this workshop we will show some of the cyber threats to which our IoT system may be exposed and how we can and should protect ourselves to have a secure IoT system.
